JEE ADVANCE 2024

JEE Advanced is a national-level entrance examination in India that is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering programs offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). It is considered to be one of the toughest engineering entrance exams in India, and only the top-ranking students in the JEE Main exam are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced is conducted once a year, usually in May or June. The exam consists of two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2 - each of three hours duration. The exam is conducted in online mode, and it includes multiple-choice questions, numerical answer type questions, and questions that require a numerical value as the answer.

The JEE Advanced exam tests students on their knowledge in physics, chemistry, and mathematics, and it is designed to assess their problem-solving and analytical skills. The exam is conducted in English and Hindi languages.

The JEE Advanced exam is divided into two parts - Part 1 and Part 2. The syllabus for both parts is based on the JEE Main syllabus, but the difficulty level of the questions is higher in JEE Advanced. The exam also has negative marking, and for each incorrect answer, a student loses a certain number of marks.

The JEE Advanced exam is a gateway for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in the IITs. The top-ranking students in the exam are eligible for admission to the various undergraduate programs offered by the IITs, which include Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) programs.

To be eligible for the JEE Advanced exam, a candidate must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Performance in JEE Main: The candidate should have qualified in the JEE Main exam and be among the top 2.5 lakh candidates (including all categories) based on their JEE Main scores.
  2. Age Limit: The candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 2000, for the current academic year. There is a relaxation of 5 years in the age limit for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
  3. Number of Attempts: A candidate can attempt the JEE Advanced exam a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
  4. Educational Qualification: The candidate should have passed the Class 12 examination or its equivalent examination in the previous year or should be appearing in the current year. The candidate should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in Class 12 or its equivalent examination.
  5. Aggregate Marks: The candidate should have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12 (or equivalent) examination. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the minimum aggregate marks required is 65%.
  6. Year of Passing: The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination (Class 12 or equivalent) in either of the last two years. Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination in the current year can also apply for JEE Advanced.

Candidates who fulfill the above eligibility criteria can apply for the JEE Advanced exam. It is important to note that the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced may change from year to year, and candidates are advised to check the official website for the latest eligibility criteria before applying for the exam.

The JEE Advanced cutoff is the minimum score or rank required by a candidate to be eligible for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The cutoff is determined by various factors such as the number of candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of seats in the IITs.

The JEE Advanced cutoff varies every year, and it is different for each category (General, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD). The cutoff is usually announced after the declaration of the JEE Advanced result.

Here are the JEE Advanced cutoff ranks for the year 2021 for the different categories:

  • General category: 10,000 (approx.)
  • OBC-NCL category: 4,500 (approx.)
  • SC category: 2,500 (approx.)
  • ST category: 1,250 (approx.)

It is important to note that the cutoff ranks for JEE Advanced may vary from year to year, and candidates are advised to check the official website for the latest cutoff ranks. Candidates who score above the cutoff rank are eligible for admission to the various undergraduate engineering programs offered by the IITs.

Here are some important dates related to the JEE Advanced exam for the year 2024:
