JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination Main) is a national
level entrance exam for admission to engineering and architecture undergraduate
courses offered by the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian
Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other Centrally Funded
Technical Institutes (CFTIs) in India. JEE Main is conducted twice a year, once
in January and once in April.

The JEE Main exam is subject to change by the National
Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts the test, so it's always best to check the
latest syllabus on the official website of NTA or CBSE board.
To be eligible to take the Joint Entrance Examination Main
(JEE Main), candidates must meet the following criteria:
Age limit: Candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1998. Candidates born on or after October 1, 1993 are eligible for admission in the NITs/IIITs/CFTIs in the reserved category.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed class 12th or equivalent examination with a minimum of 5 subjects including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates who have cleared their class 12th or equivalent examination in 2021 or before and have secured at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or be in the top 20 percentile in their respective board examination are eligible for JEE Main.
Number of Attempts: A candidate can attempt JEE (Main) for a maximum of three times in consecutive years.
Appearing candidates: Candidates appearing in class 12th examination in 2024 and whose result is still awaited are also eligible to appear in JEE Main.
International Candidates: International candidates are also eligible to apply for JEE Main, they are not required to meet the eligibility criteria of age and number of attempts.
It's important to note that the eligibility criteria are subject to change by the National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts the test, so it's always best to check the latest eligibility criteria on the official website of NTA or CBSE board.
The JEE Main cutoff is the minimum rank required by a
candidate to be eligible for admission to a particular course and college. The
cutoff for JEE Main is determined by several factors, including the number of
applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the number of seats available
in each institute. The cutoff for JEE Main is released in the form of a rank
list, with the ranks of the last candidates who are eligible for admission to
each institute and course.
The cutoff for JEE Main is typically released in the form of an All India Rank (AIR) and varies for different institutes and courses. There are two types of JEE Main cutoff:
Qualifying Cutoff: This is the minimum rank required to be eligible for admission to a particular course and college. Candidates who score below this cutoff are not eligible for admission.
Admissions Cutoff: This is the minimum rank required to be considered for admission to a particular course and college. Candidates who score above this cutoff are eligible for admission, but may not necessarily be admitted as the final admission will depend on various other factors such as seat availability and the institute's admission criteria.
The cutoff for JEE Main is usually released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on the official website, after the declaration of the result. Please note that the cutoff is subject to change based on the number of candidates and seats availability, so it's always best to check the latest cutoff on the official website of NTA.
